Is the eurovision song contest weird?

do you think many of the singers and songs are weird? and who even chooses these people to be contestants?

Also If anyone watched it on TV, after each song there was a video of people doing stuff - e.g. one was just a group of people bush walking, another one was a person skiing, etc - what was that supposed to be about????????????? that was just weird

Is the eurovision song contest weird?
It's not just weird, it's stupid, pointless, embarrasing (for each represented country) and RIGGED !!! Just look at who won last year!! (I only saw that on the news, 'cause I stopped watching the actual show about 15 years ago, when I was still in France.)

I really don't know who decides who will represent their country in that "contest", because most of them wouldn't pass the first audition on "Idol"!!

UPDATE 14/05: HA HA !!! It was on Australian tv last night (after I first posted a response) Two words: UNBELIEVABLY BAD.

See what I meant when I said "embarrasing?.. I watched from #18 to #24 And, I'll say it again: not one of them would have made thru the first round of Idol. Not saying that Idol is any kind of "musical reference" but there sure is a whole lot more TALENT in it than there is in Eurovision.

HOWEVER, there is an interesting fact: the 'winning" country actually gets to host the contest, the following year!!.......

Maybe that's why every country sends their WORST imbeciles, just to make sure they don't have to put up with the embarrasment of hosting such a crapy show?...
Reply:No, the songs are pretty standard. Most are pop ballads, some are techno-dance type things. Nothing special.

The selection depends on the country. In most countries they have an open vote. People call in to vote for their favorite singer. There are usually about 5 people wanting to represent their country. In some countries (Russia for example) a special commission chooses the representative, completely ignoring the wishes of the public.

The videos between the performances show the life and culture of the host country. Personally, I really liked this year's videos for their randomness, because usually the clips are boring and remind me of commercials for tourists.
Reply:NAH JUS RUBBISH
Reply:Are you an American? It appears as if you are simply incapable of understanding...
