Eurovision Song Contest?

Do you think the Eurovision song contest is just a policital fix with neighbouring contries voting for each other and how do you think they can solve this if Britain was to drop out.

I reckon if countries submitted their candidates annonymously and countries voted for who they thought was best without knowing who's who we might stand a better chance.

Eurovision Song Contest?
I was thinking that too when it was on, if the countries didn't know which singers were their neighbours maybe then it'd be better for everyone concerned. otherwise give it a few years and alot of countries will pull out due to it being a political contest rather than a song contest.
Reply:anonymously wouldn't work as other countries send in their famous singers - other countries would recognise them..

i think its clearly political, we have no way of knowing if the results are even correct.. the government could easily say 'russia 12 points' when they didn't get that purely to cover their backs..

we should have a western europe competion and an eastern competition then versus eachother and voted for by judges like before.. this isn't working anymore!
Reply:Yes!
Reply:TBH i think Britain should leave as it is all about poltics (not that it's ever been about music) XD lol

Yeah thats a good idea but it's one those things that will never change O_O
Reply:I think that it has become a popularity contest and it's not fair that countries who are disliked but have a great song are put down because of political issues. I used to have fun watching the Eurovision Song Contest with my family but now I actually expect the UK to lose. It's not right! :(
Reply:I think word politics should be used loosely here. It’s more of demographic voting or cultural. All Balkan countries have similar music per example, musicians known in Russia are also know in Ukraine, Lithuania etc. So it’s merely Diaspora votes and plus little something, but not politics. I mean, how stupid should you be to claim that Russia wont give gas to countries that don’t give her votes? Well, ask Terry Wogan.
Reply:good idea but no

UK sends awful songs
Reply:It's ALWAYS been a fix, Baltic countries vote for each other, former Yugo countries vote for each other, Greece and Cyprus, you name it, Britain should stay out of it, except that the BBC funds the whole thing, it's a joke and whoever wins, the song is so bad that you never hear them again, it stinks, best thing is listening to Terry Wogan taking the pee!
Reply:I think that countries should all have to sing in the same language [prob English] but the name of the country who is on the tv should not appear on the screen.

It sounds like a good idea - but I don't think it would happen somehow!
