Is eurovision song contest now a political competition?

it would seem this contest has now become political rather than one of musical talent, whilst russia's entry was a worthy winner the british entry did not deserve to come last especialy when some of the other entries were an absolute joke, and had little, or nothing to do with musical talent and just another example of how eastern europe is just leaving a nasty taste with everything it comes into contact with. rebuild the wall and bring back the divide we were at least safe, and free from eastern european corruption, and the crime.

i totaly agree. it is just pathetic...Andy did a great job. Even if we sent the best singer in the world on there noone would vote for us! They should be ashamed that they never vote for talent. Its so annoying!

when Ireland used to win it was because they were experiencing a war with us, and the same when we won- we were being bombed by the IRA, now thats all over (touch wood) its on to the next war, as we are part of it and seem to be encroaching on territory so we loose the Eurovision out of spite, I was suprised the middle east didnt win again, but I am not really into politics, the only reason I knew about the Ireland/UK thing was because I live in London and witnessed it first hand. But even Terry Wogan at the end confirmed it was political.
