Why dont Scotland and Wales have songs in the Eurovision Song Contest?

Actually from next year Scotland COULD have an entry in Eurovision, as we approached them about that %26amp; they said there was nothing to stop us as technically speaking Scotland is part of the EBU. As I am sure other answeres have said, it is total rubbish, but makes for a great night to get absolutely rat arsed %26amp; laugh along with Terry Wogan as the political voting commences.

It's the fact that it is so rubbish %26amp; tacky that makes it compulsive viewing.

Why dont Scotland and Wales have songs in the Eurovision Song Contest?
scotland to tight to fund it WALES would win all hands down no contest
Reply:Because it's a British entry.
Reply:they have more sense!
Reply:Because the UK enters. Personally, I think it's a load of.. Well I won't go so far.

Scotland and Wales are SEPERATE countries, not England.
Reply:Because there's enough embarrassment with just the English entry..
Reply:cos the scottish and welsh can actually sing and wouldnt go for that drivel
Reply:Hiya!

If you watch the lead up show, you can see that they do choose from a selection of entrants from all over the uk.

Where was the 1st eurovision song contest held?

It was in Switzerland, 24 May 1956.

Location: Teatro Kursaal, Lugano, Switzerland

With only 7 participating countries, and interesting way of voting: Each country had two jurors who gave each song (including the songs of their own country) a mark between 1 and 10 points. The song with the most points was declared the winner. The votes were never made public

Who votes for the eurovision song contest winners?

Is it a public vote?

Who votes for the eurovision song contest winners?
Yes it is a public vote, the person who tells them what the votes are is just a representative from that country. It goes all around to each represented country, they take the scores from each one and add them together, it normally ends up with 'Norway nil points'. Although I believe Great Britain got 'nil points' last time.
Reply:I only watch it in the hope something goes wrong as its live and also our commentator in England is comical

But its too political now with the votes / voting system
Reply:Yes it is public, and middle aged fat people vote.
Reply:Knobheads i presume. Does the Eurovision song contest really matter?
Reply:I never vote for my favourites coz it's still a question of politics. Neighbours voting for neighbours! It's not about the music at all!

When is the Junior Eurovision Song Contest on this year??
It seems that the Junior Eurovision Song Contest is on the 8th of December in Rotterdam; Armenia is represented by "Arevik."

I don't think a representative from Armenia has been selected yet for Eurovision 2008.
