Uk boycott of the Eurovision song contest?

Should the Uk boycott the Eurovision contest after yet another year of disappointing results (we came joint bottom).It seems less to do with musical talent and more to whom are your neighbouring countries;just seems a farce!

I have been in the Music Business over 20 years and I lived in Latvia for 3 years. The whole thing is a fix, With Latvia having 50% Russian Population, The Same in Estonia, Lithuania, Ukraine, Not to mention the amount of eastern Europeans living in the UK and other parts of the world, no wonder wonder Russia won, The song was awful, I don't know how the Uk even gave the amount of points to Latvia, the song was also terrible. Not to mention in most of them the freak Show Dancers and costumes they had in the back ground.





The whole thing is a fix, I also think why are we letting countries like Russia in the compilation when they are not even in Europe and the fact they are sending home British ministers and not even working amicably with other European countries into making this a better world to live in.





One thing I realised when I was living in Latvia, they seem to have a real hate for english people and it appears all over the Baltic States and Russia, So poor Andy would never have got the vote he deserved...





Why should be put our young artist through this and waste their talent on such a joke of a show...

It is a bit of joke I admit but at the same time its clear we're seen as the bad guys .





I neer watch it but as its fact , whether they like it or not , that the uk has strong musical heritage .





I mean not fan of current scene and do like some foregin artists but in general I would say the uk must have the monopoly as far music sales go in most categories - maybe their aware of that and jealous ?





I mean when was the last time you really heard of breakout artist from eastern europe really apart from the odd few one hit wonder like those Cheeky girls etc
Reply:What its to do with is: Is us mugs in the UK foot the bill for every country in the world when they have a crisis. We fight in wars to save countries that dont want us there. We are the first country to offer aid and aid-workers in any crisis. We home all the immigrants from all over Europe. Yet in the Eurovision all our continentel neighbours forget about this and cant even give us a point in a song contest. I bet there would be more people come forward to give us good points if it meant they got to live in this country.
Reply:I don't think that Terry Wogan wants to do any more, he sounded so disappointed at the end of this year's show. We are all disappointed at the eastern European cowards, what do they expect their neighbours to do..... start a war over a silly song contest ?
Reply:I think Terry Wogan was thinking along the same lines when he said Western Europe is going to have to decide if they want to continue in the competition.





I think its now time to give it up.
Reply:Its just not worth entering anymore. you just as well call it the 'new European' song contest. Poor Andy, I really liked that song too.
Reply:It should just be aboloished in general until people decide to actually judge on the music rather than political backgrounds.

Reply:i really think we should give up as a bad job andy was ok this year i like him but the uk just do cr ap as always we need to give it up now and stop being shown up.
