Will France: Sébastien Tellier - "Divine" win the Eurovision Song Contest - and is it blasphemous or... not?

I know. You're about to scream at this question - especially as it relates to the Eurovision Song Contest. But the French entry is actually quite a good catchy song by Sébastien Tellier. So why is it in the ESC?

Track record:

Tellier's entry has caused some controversy. The tongue-in-cheek video features a bearded, long-haired Sébastien-alike in a number of Christ-like poses. But the French themselves are more concerned that Sébastien is singing in English. However, the French Eurovision committee may have made a savvy move as songs performed in English are more likely to win.

See this is the reason Eurosong is no longer useful. It's like putting heavy metal fans along with rap lovers. It doesn't gel! At least the Western European countries mostly had similar tastes in music and the winner usually was quite well received in all countries. But now? Lordi, two years ago, showed that if the song is worth it and special, it can still win, but when you see that Russia is the favorite EVERY YEAR you KNOW something is not right.

The Eastern countries are just too tightly knit and there's still a large gap between our culture and theirs when it comes to movies %26amp; music. When you see how many Eastern countries got through the semi-finals it's obvious that Eurosong is losing a lot of appeal to the West.

Not to say Eurosong has had much value over the years, but at least it felt like a decent competition even if the Belgian entry was nearly always crap. But when you don't even stand a chance of making the finals ...
Reply:According to the latest researches the top 5 favorites are:

1.Russia

2.Serbia (the host)

3.Armenia

4.Ukraine

5.Sweden

The french entry is on the 18th place.

Yes,I've heard the french are not very happy Sébastien's song is in english.I think they made him add at least 5 french words to the song, which he did.But his english is not clear,I think most native english speakers don't understand him.

I couldn't play the video.A note showed up telling "This content is only available to watch in the UK".
Reply:It should win. Who in eurovision could ever compete?
